Affordable Weddings

Let’s face it. If there is anything that is constantly on the minds of youngsters who are about to make a lifelong commitment to someone they love, it is related to affordable weddings. For a couple who are about to take what is probably the biggest step of their lives, affordable weddings are more than a cherished dream – they are an necessity. Most people who get married young really cannot afford the cost of weddings. And considering that weddings nowadays have become more of a social status symbol than a meaningful exchange of vows, it is not difficult to see why affordable weddings assume critical importance.

But what is it that differentiates affordable weddings from other, less affordable ones. To understand this better, we need to look at the components of a conventional wedding. First and foremost there is the venue. Weddings in a chapel are no longer the preferred way for several couples to tie the knot. More and more people are looking for unconventional ways in which they can get married. Thos who are passionate about their hobbies, choose spectacular venues for their weddings. Ranging from underwater ceremonies to three thousand feet above land, there have been all sorts of spectacular weddings that have been taking up newspaper space in the recent past. This by itself puts them beyond the scope of affordable weddings.

Then there is the guest list. Since most people get married but once in a lifetime (hopefully!) they would like to go all out to announce this fact to their near ones. So the bride and the groom call all their relatives, friends and acquaintances. And with the dinner per plate costs shooting over the top, the wedding dinner by itself can also manage to push all weddings above the threshold of affordable weddings. Finally, there is the personal expense that all couples indulge in. The bride and the groom spend spectacular amounts of money in revamping their wardrobes and their looks to cater to the image requirements of the big day. This too makes their weddings surely unaffordable.

But weddings can be graceful affairs while continuing to be an affordable weddings. All it takes is a little rationalization in costs, some definite rationalization in expectations and some simple prioritization when it comes to the guest list. If these things are done, there is no reason why everyone cannot have affordable weddings. Affordable weddings are more than anything else, a matter of choice. You too can make it the right choice.
